Exploring the Possibilities of Natural Wool-Based Materials
At Yulgro, we believe our natural wool-based materials have potential far beyond our existing Pot Topper range.
We welcome enquiries about different sizes, shapes and applications, both within horticulture and across other industries.
Two Material Options
Yulgro offers two natural wool-based material options to suit different applications.
Scrim-Backed Material — Wool-based material with a scrim backing, suitable for applications where additional backing is beneficial.
Fully Biodegradable Material — Wool-based material without a backing, for applications where biodegradability is a priority.
Both options can be cut and shaped to meet a wide range of requirements, from standard Pot Toppers to bespoke mats, liners and other applications.
Potential Applications
Custom Pot Toppers — Non-standard sizes and shapes for nursery pots, containers and specialist growing systems.
Tree Mats & Landscaping — Larger wool-based coverings for trees, shrubs and planting areas.
Hanging Basket Liners — Shaped liners for hanging baskets, planters and other containers.
Allotment & Growing Blankets — Larger sheets for covering soil, with potential benefits for weed suppression, moisture retention and slug deterrence. Wool-based materials have shown promise in discouraging slugs, although performance would need to be assessed for each application.
Wildlife & Nesting Products — Exploring potential uses such as pigeon nesting boxes, subject to suitability and safety assessment.
Other Applications — Bespoke sheets, discs, liners and shapes for uses beyond horticulture. We are particularly interested in hearing about new ideas we may not yet have considered.
These are potential development opportunities, not necessarily products currently available. All new applications are subject to material suitability and manufacturing feasibility.
